I am directed by Mr. Secretary Morley to acknowledge Mr. Campbell's letter of the 29th ultimo on the subject of the northern section of the Burmah-Yünnan frontier.

In reply, I am to suggest that the matter should remain in abeyance for the present, until the report of the Burmah Government on the western boundary of the Wa country has been received, with a view to a proposal to the Chinese Government being considered on the lines indicated in the telegram* to the Viceroy of the 1st August last.
